About Me

My name is Fiona, and I am a Certified Therapeutic Play Practitioner with Play Therapy UK (PTUK). I am also trained as an Integrative Holistic Play Therapist using play and the creative arts. I trained through the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy (APAC) in association with Chichester University.

I am a full member of PTUK which is accredited with the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) and I uphold their ethical framework in my work. I hold an enhanced DBS clearance (on the update service), have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance and I am on the ICO register. I receive regular clinical supervision.
I am also a highly experienced primary school teacher, and I recognised that our children’s mental and emotional health often needs additional support, just like their physical health. This knowledge of children led me on a therapeutic journey to help meet their needs more fully and enable them to reach their potential. I have also worked with children who have witnessed or experienced domestic abuse.
Initially I work in a non-directive (child-centred) way following ‘Axline principles’, to allow the therapeutic relationship to be truly established and to allow children to process in a non-threatening way.
